Oberheim-OB8

The Oberheim OB-8 was a polyphonic synthesizer released in 1983 by Oberheim electronics.

Phil Collins had bought an Oberheim OB-8 in the mid-1980s as part of the Oberheim system, which also included a Oberheim DSX sequencer and an Oberheim DMX drum machine. He worked with the Oberheim OB-8 on the No Jacket Required album, alongside the Yamaha DX7.

Phil had also intended for keyboard player (and one half of musical duo The System) David Frank to use the Oberheim equipment on the album. So at the Townhouse, David Frank was set up with Phil's Oberheim system (OB-8/DSX/DMX), along with an Emulator II and a PPG Wave with Waveterm. He played the main riff on "Sussudio" with the OB-8.

Phil's OB-8 was later sold to electronic music group Black Dog.
